subject: The Specific Uses Of Different Types Of Cameras [print this page]

A still camera sitting on a tripod is always a resemblance of professionalism. It is reflective of the seriousness of the shot-taker and importance he attaches to professionalism in his work. Even though technologically more advanced SLR and video cameras are now available with amazing image capture qualities, the relatively old fashioned still cameras are still the flavour of the season.

These cameras provide a much better colour rendition. It means that the camera is able to reproduce the colours of the different objects in the effect of luminance from a light source. Another major benefit is that this camera has a greater depth of field as compared to many of the video cameras. Depth of field refers to the range of distance within the subject that is acceptably sharp and is not blurred. This depends on the aperture of the camera, type of camera and the focusing distance. Yet another feature is the resolution of the camera. It refers to the ability to clearly distinguish between the two objects kept close to one another. The resolution power has improved vastly with the incorporation of the digital technology in still cameras. These are best used in situations which do not require you to move the camera. Photo-shoots are often done with these cameras.

The SLR cameras, on the other hand, are a moving lens semi-automatic system. Using it, it is possible for the users to know beforehand what type of image is going to be captured in the camera. In the cameras which were made before the SLR cameras, there was a lot of difference between what was going to be captured and what was being shown on the viewfinder of the camera.

Video cameras are the digital devices which can capture the motion of the people. These are of many types. The professional video cameras are those used in TV and film production. The camcorders are mobile digital devices used both by professionals as well as common people. Closed Circuit TV cameras are another type of video cameras which are used for security and surveillance needs of the people. These cameras also permit you to do video recording and store the same in the compact disk.

Some of the major international corporations into the consumer electronics market are the leading makers of the digital cameras of all types. Japanese companies like Sony, Sanyo, Nikon, Panasonic and many others are the top leaders in this product category producing quality cameras and camcorders. Before buying a digital camera, it is worth considering the purpose for which this is to be used. Since the video cameras are quite expensive, you might be satisfied with the other equally good still or SLR ones, or, you might like to change the brand. The price of these cameras is also dependent on the brand value. A Sony camera would rate more expensive than the Sanyo cameras. And, do not forget to buy the right accessories for better quality and enhanced feature image capturing.
