subject: Job Search Resolutions For 2010 [print this page]

Economically for the US 2009 was the distressing year. There is also good news that 2010 promise recovery in some sectors. But there is also a bad news that this high employment rate will continue to be with us for quite some time. There will be fewer jobs available but it doesn't mean that there will be no opportunity. Companies are still doing the business and they still require talented employees those who can better compete during the coming year. Can you add something for the organization? Remember this: in the evolving economy like US there is always a place for you, but only if you can think smarter and act differently than in the past. To maximize your chances of scoring a job in 2010 here there are 4 resolutions.

Resolution #1: Get in the Game:

Come out of the pavilion box and play hard. Don't remain seated, act for something and aggressively search for the jobs you find on the internet. This thing requires a game plan and the belief that you are going to win this game. Because this is not the right time to show sympathy to those who want to regret how bad it is out there. Decide instead to excel and achieve at your job search.

Do something every day that can refine your job search. If you are positive it will diminish nervousness and other negative feelings. This thing goes beyond your survival of the fittest. Those who want to succeed in their life it requires a iron will and strong determination. Just remind you self that you will win and will outlast this challenge.

Resolution #2: Think and Talk ROI:

No more traditional ways of selling your USP works now a days. You definitely need to hone your skills to act like a problem solver for your employer. Employers don't hire people who are liabilities on their balance sheet. They hire people who are smart and know how they can prove to be a return on investment for the company. For this show them your clear benefits that you can offer to them.

For this just look at your skills, experience, abilities and talents you possess. Just show your skills in front of the employer that how you can make money or save money for the organization. Try to turn your skills and talents into benefit that can employer understand and appreciate. Pull out experiences from last organization that what you have learnt and think that how your work will save money, make money or otherwise improve the situation of your employee.

Education and skills, while valuable, do not translate into benefits. But answer this question that what you can do better that your rival cant? Because everybody has unique set of skills, experience and talents. Just turn them into your assets.

Resolution #3: Widen Your Network

Earlier it was very easy to find work by responding to internet job boards or corporate websites. But now it is very difficult to limit your search only to internet ads and afterwards expect a success. That's why only 12% of new hires comes from the job boards and 27 % however comes from internal sources that means networking according to the latest annual Source of Hire Study by CareerXRoads. It is good if you start widening your network both in person and online by making some new contacts each week through local events or related professional meetings. Adding your bio and profile on social networking sites is a better idea. LinkedIn and Facebook also have a "groups" feature that allows you to seek out and join other groups, not only in job search, like my VIP Club, but also industry and professional groups that you can introduce yourself to. If you want to establish your expertise aiming a selected target groups The "Ask/Answer a Question" feature is a good option. Twitter has also become an excellent way to follow movers and shakers plus make yourself known to a wider playing field.

That is why it is said that don't forget your family, friends and neighbors who might know someone. Job searches are all about connection. The more connection you make the higher the chances of your success.

Resolution #4: Inoculate Yourself against Negative Messages

If you want a success in your job search it is necessary that you should prepare and deliver yourself at any moment notice. If during the process if you allow any negative thoughts to enter your mind that can poison your outlook and lead to fear, discouragement, anxiety and other negative emotions. It is better if you shut that door which encourages negative thoughts to come from outside environment at least for some time so that you can't divert your mind from your target- the job search. It is good if you get in touch with those people whose energies are positive and they can help you fight better. At the time of your search all this negativity in environment can't be affordable may it be through friends, relatives, print media, radio or our own television box. Go through books, magazines and articles that fuel your thoughts in a positive way and encourage you to steer ahead on your path. Keep reminding yourself of avoiding anything out of this league.
