subject: Business Computer Support Charlotte-properly Taking Care Of Your Laptop [print this page]

Laptops are quickly becoming a tool that most students cannot do without. These tools are the means of getting information, putting together complex presentations and essays, and performing many other school related tasks.

However, these tools are still quite expensive and many students cannot afford to purchase more than one during their school career. As a result it is vitally important that they take proper care of their portable computers to ensure the longest lifetime possible.

The first rule that can increase the lifetime of your computer is to keep all food and drink away from your computer. Accidents are all too common and one accident can absolutely destroy your computer.

Liquids are especially dangerous even though crumbs can fall in between the keys on the keyboard after which the keys will become sticky and jammed. Spilled liquids will cause electrical faults in your laptop that may or may not be fixable.

Even if it is fixable, getting a laptop repaired can be quite expensive. In addition, sticky fingers can make it very difficult to use the touchpad mouse.

You may also leave sticky streaks that will dry and stay on your computer and your screen. You may be tempted to have water and other liquids and food next to you as you work because you know you can be careful.

However, someone else could come by and trip into your desk knocking your water over and ruining your computer all in accident. It is much safer if you must keep liquids next to you that you store it in a container with a lid.

That way if an accident does happen, the liquid does not spill onto your computer. The best rule of action is to simply be safe by keeping food and drinks away from your computer however.

The second thing you should be aware of is how hot your laptop gets. People who have never worked with a laptop before do not realize how hot a laptop can actually get.

However, it can put off a lot of heat that is not good for the laptop. It is a very good idea to keep you laptop in a well ventilated spot when you are using it.

For example, do not set it on the bed to use it, but on a hard wood table, as the folds from the quilt could block the fan. This would hinder the laptop's ability to cool itself off.

If you have little extra money to spend, laptop coolers are also very helpful. They are an extra accessory that adds several additional fans to the computer to help make sure that it is not overheating.

The next thing you should always do is make sure that you protect you LCD display. LCD stands for liquid crystal display.

These kinds of displays can become damaged quite easily so it very important that you are mindful of it at all times. When you are not using it, close the screen so that random flying objects, dust and dirt will not harm it.

However, be sure to check the keyboard to make sure that there are no pens or pencils lying on top that will damage the screen when you close it. Try to remember not to touch the screen as well.

The less you have to clean the screen the less chance you will have of accidentally damaging it. Do not avoid cleaning it however.

Make sure your LCD display is clean at all times. The best tools to use to clean your screen are a soft cloth and an anti-static monitor.

The next thing you should make sure you do may seem like common sense, but it happens all too often. You should make sure that you do not drop your computer.

Laptops especially are designed to be taken to various locations and used a number of places that desktop computers cannot be used. Unfortunately, this increases its chances of being dropped dramatically.

It is a very good idea to invest in a durable laptop bag that can help protect it if it is dropped and which will help you reduce your chances of dropping it. Be careful not to leave it in precarious locations such as on the edge of a desk either.

One miscalculation of balance and your computer may be dead. By taking proper care of your laptop, you will ensure the longest life possible for it to assist you with your many different tasks and chores.
