subject: Preparing For An Airline Flight [print this page]

Traveling by airplane can seem like a huge hassle ever since the security measures went up. This method of travel can be particularly stressful during the holiday seasons.

There are many things that can happen that can set you back for hours. The many rules and mistakes that you can commit can hinder and even cause you to cancel your trip if you violate them.

The first thing you need to make sure that you avoid altogether is running late. This is the number one reason that people miss their flights.

Most airlines suggest that you arrive at least two hours before your departure. Even though you may end up waited for a half an hour or so once you get through security, it is much better than waiting three or four hours while the airport tries to get you on a new flight.

On occasion, when the lines are really bad, you may even barely make it to your flight once you get through security, check-in and find your gate. Even is procrastination is the name of your personality, arriving at the airport is not something that you can procrastinate.

In addition, you are going on vacation. You want your vacation to be relaxed and comfortable.

By starting your trip rushed and stressful, it can be hard to let those feelings go. You could ruin your trip from the very beginning by cutting your time short.

The second mistake that many people make is purchasing tickets for a two leg flight that have too short of time in between the two flights. You need at least an hour and a half in between flights in order to be fairly sure of making your second flight.

If you schedule less than an hour, you will be very lucky if make your second flight. This means that instead of waiting the reasonable hour and a half at most, you will be waiting at least three or four hours on standby.

You could miss a few days of your vacation by spending them in the airport. That is not much of a vacation.

During the holiday season you may not be able to get on a flight at all. As the mistake was your fault and not that of the airport, you will simply have to deal with the consequences.

They will not bend over backwards to make things work for you because there are so many people who they have to accommodate. In addition, you do not want to have to worry about making your flight the entire first leg of the trip.

The next mistake too many people make is flying while sick. If you are sick, call and try to get a refund for your tickets.

You will not enjoy your vacation if you are sick anyway and you will simply expose hundreds of people at the airport to it by continuing with your plans. This is not very courteous.

When you arrive on the plane, do not expect the plane attendants to provide for your every need. In the past they used to offer magazines, blankets, meals, diaper, pillows, water, aspirin and so forth.

Today the airlines have been forced to cut costs and they can no longer afford to store these things. If you need these kinds of things, you will need to bring them with you.

It is also a bad idea to take off your shoes on the plane or in the airport. Your shoes protect your feet from picking up various diseases.

A public place like the airport is bound to be covered in a variety of diseases you have never been exposed to before. You are asking to get at least one by walking around barefoot.

You are especially asking for trouble if you enter the bathroom barefoot. It is best to keep your shoes on when you are in public places.

It is also important to be mindful and take care of your body when you are planning on traveling. If you know that something will make you uncomfortable whether it is food, clothes, lack of sleep, and so forth-avoid it.

In addition, be careful not to drink too much so that you are not visiting the bathroom every five minutes. By keeping these things in mind, you will be able to experience a much more enjoyable flight.

Likewise, you will be able to start your vacation on a good note. You will not be stressed or rushed and your vacation will be a wonderful experience.
