I live in a nice little house near a beach in San Francisco, and I love it! Here are some reasons why I believe San Francisco is the best place to live.
The splendor of the hills .
The hills of San Francisco offer breathtaking views, an exhilarating roller-coaster like thrill, and a pretty decent workout to people who like to climb.
The convenience.
San Francisco is a major city that feels like a small town, because it is small. It's easy to get around, because everything is just a hop, skip and a jump away. If you are somewhere in the middle of the city, nothing is farther than about 3 miles. The downside is the dire parking situation.
Parking in San Francisco is difficult, but not necessary.
Affordable parking in San Francisco is sparse, to say the very least. The sad fact is, safely parking a car in S.F. is expensive to the point of being prohibitive. That's why many locals rely solely on public transit.
The bus system is cheap, reliable, and convenient. I love to walk, but I often hop on a bus, just because it's so nice and warm!
The weather.
The weather just outside of my San Francisco window may not be for everyone, but I think it's wonderful. I am perfectly content shivering against the cool morning fog and the afternoon breeze of a San Francisco summer. However, when the cold wind comes through a San Francisco window at night, it can chill you to the bone.
