subject: Learn More About Cricket Clothing [print this page]

A cricketer wears many different pieces of cricket clothing that create a complete outfit. From gear to protect themselves from the ball to shirts and shoes, there are many pieces that are vital to the game. Below is more information on all the major points of a full outfit.

Socks & Underwear

Supportive and durable socks are an essential part of cricket clothing. Not only do they need to properly support the heels of the cricketer; they need to handle the constant movement of an active cricketer, as well as being warm.

The underwear needs to be supportive for male players, and the most important factor is that they are comfortable - any irritation caused by underwear can seriously affect a player's game.

Cricket Trousers & Shirts

All cricket players wear trousers. These need to be lightweight and flexible when it comes to the waist, ensuring maximum comfort. They also need to be durable as a cricketer may find themselves jumping to catch a ball on a rough, hard surface.

Cricket shirts, or tops, are the most well known aspect of cricket clothing. As with the trousers, the shirt needs to be lightweight and cool for a player to feel relaxed and comfortable enough - the player shouldn't have to think about the shirt at all once he begins playing. Cricket is usually a summer sport, which is why it's vital that the players are able to keep cool with properly designed cricket clothing. When the weather is not so warm, cricket sweaters are used. These are available as a vest or with sleeves.

Cricket Shoes

Cricket shoes with spikes are arguably the most important piece of cricket clothing. Why? Not only do they need to provide the relevant grip for the cricketer, they need to be comfortable and supportive. If the shoes are not comfortable then they will affect your game immensely, and the same goes for if they do not have sufficient, and the correct grip. Bowlers require spikes on the sole of the shoe, whilst batters require spikes on the front and regular grip near the back of the sole.

Cricket shoes need to be supportive due to the fact sport has advanced so dramatically in the last few decades, with the demand for excellence continuing to increase, thus putting extra pressure on a sportsman's body. The ankles of a human are a vital part of the body, and are very susceptible to injury, which is why having the correct shoes is a must.

Cricket Hat

This may be something you have forgotten, but a cricketer certainly wouldn't. The hat is not used for looks, it's used to protect a cricketer from the sun's harmful rays, and also to enable him or her to see the ball better (shade from the sun).

There are other pieces of cricket clothing, such as the pads and sweatbands, but those mentioned above are the most important. When searching for cheap cricket clothing ensure you make use of the World Wide Web (WWW).
