subject: Home Security Technology: Surveillance Cameras Catch Burglars In The Act [print this page]

Surveillance cameras are one of the best home security technologies for many reasons. They are natural crime deterrents but if someone does enter your home while you have a surveillance camera you are able to get them on video. In addition to this, Phoenix security experts state that they are the only home security systems that give you the capability to keep an eye on your home at any time from anywhere in the world with remote access.

If you are not sure about surveillance cameras, then some recent news might spark your interest. This month, an Arizona homeowner in Litchfield Park had his home burglarized during the day. The criminal got away with his $7,000 3-D TV. When police arrived at his home he told them that he had a surveillance system. They were able to get an image of the burglar who is now in jail and facing three felony charges. The homeowner said, "If I didn't have surveillance cameras this guy would have never been caught."

Even though surveillance cameras are great crime deterrents, they don't prevent criminals from taking a chance on breaking into homes 100 percent of the time. This is the same with any security system. A security sticker alone won't keep burglars away 100 percent of the time, for example. But having some type of home security system does statistically guarantee that your home will be much less likely to be burglarized. If a burglary does occur, then there is a major difference between a regular alarm and a surveillance system. With a surveillance system, Phoenix security authorities state that you can get your culprit on video while a regular alarm will only let off a loud ringing sound.

"If somebody actually goes to a house and they see cameras pointing at them, red lights, they're going to think twice about going in there," said Arizona security expert Matt Terry when ABC news talked to him about the happening. Terry also said, "If they do break in you actually get to catch them. You have the video evidence."

Home security systems Phoenix companies suggest that if you invest in a surveillance camera that you get a camera with the ability to record. Some homeowners have security cameras that only have a live feed. In addition to this, you can have your surveillance camera monitored by a security firm.
