Unless you're a techie, you probably don't know much about 3d television other than the images will jump out at you and special glasses are needed to enjoy the 3d effects. Most of us have gone to the theater for the novelty of watching a 3d movie, using cardboard glasses, and were amazed at the objects that seemed to pop out of the screen and hover in front of our eyes. However, there is much more to it than that, some of which is very interesting.

The 3d effect is created when the camera recording the video uses two lenses set slightly apart, which gives two marginally different views of the scene. Then when worn, the special glasses cause each of your eyes to take in a separate image, tricking your brain into seeing in 3d rather than 2d. We all know that when watching a movie in 3d, the images seem to jump out at you. What many people don't know is that the perception of depth in 3d movies is often a more impressive feature. You will feel that you are right in the scene and can actually lean over and see what's on the other side of a wall.

The images created by the newer active liquid crystal shutter glasses are much more vivid and have a higher-resolution than the movie-theater cardboard glasses. They also contain electronics and use batteries, which generally last approximately 80 hours.

In addition to higher quality glasses, home 3d tv offers control to the viewer. Many of the tvs permit you to adjust the amount of 3d effect to your preference,

Manufacturers are striving to soon release some 3d televisions for home use. If you are hoping to become one of the first families to go 3d, you will need to purchase a new tv, a broadcasting provider and special 3d glasses. Another selling point is that a 3d tv can also be used as a 2d tv, and will offer a much crisper image than any of today's high definition tvs. It may surprise you to learn that 3d tvs are not anticipated to be significantly more expensive than standard tv, and after they have been on the market for a short while, you are sure to find great tv deals.

So sit back, grab the remote, put on your 3d glasses, and get ready for a movie experience that is sure to thrill and delight you, all in the comfort of your home.
