subject: Guess Where Your Fluoride Comes From? China! [print this page]

Local municipalities have been adding Fluoride to their water supply for decades in the hope that it will help with tooth decay in the local population especially the poor, and the number of these is growing every year. In fact over 2/3 of the drinking water in the US is Fluoridated. Fluoride has been promoted as a tooth decay dentifrice for decades, and it is in almost all toothpaste and mouthwash products sold in the US, except for a few natural or organic products. But do you know what Fluoride is, its history or where it comes from?

The vast majority of people in the US believe the advertising and the propaganda surrounding Fluoride and its wide spread use and never question what they have been told or lead to believe. Fluoride is not what the ads or the government says it is. There are no validated studies proving that Fluoride works to prevent tooth decay or that it is even really safe to use in the first place.

Fluoride is a derivative of Fluorine which is a by-product of Aluminum mining. In the early part of the 20th Century it was supposedly observed that local residents who drank water infused with natural fluoride had fewer cavities than people in a nearby town who's water supply was not contaminated with fluoride. They failed to note that the water contained calcium and magnesium as well which we now know are essential for strong bones and teeth. Over time word spread and more communities followed suit even though there is NO proof that fluoride was the cause in decline in tooth decay.

Now that so much of our water supply is fluoridated it has become big business so ever cheaper sources of Fluoride are to help control costs. "Much of the fluoride added to municipal water supplies across the United States is imported from China, and is contaminated with heavy metals", according to a warning by Bernard Miltenberger, president of the Pure Water Committee of Western Maryland.

Miltenberger contacted another Maryland filtration plant and found that the fluoride they use also comes from China and contains toxic heavy metals as well. "The material safety data sheets from Solvay fluorides show that a teaspoon amount of five grams of sodium fluoride can be fatal to an average size man of 70kg. ... chronic toxicity by oral route may cause skeletal and dental fluorosis, thyroid, testes, kidney, liver, ambiguous carcinogenic and mutagenic effects, fetotoxic and fertility effects."

This is amazing to me, but not surprising that it happens. Health officials and local governments are putting a known toxin that also contains toxic heavy metals directly into our water supply. There is no valid reason for our drinking water to be fluoridated, if people want the benefits of fluoride they can use one of the myriad of cheap toothpastes and mouth washes sold in most stores. For the rest of us we should able to use our water supply with the knowledge that it is not contaminated with a known toxin.
