subject: Tees Maar Khan Is Original [print this page] There are several speculations surrounding Farah Khan's TEES MAAR KHAN, which is supposed to be a spoof on Michael Crichton's 1979 thriller THE GREAT TRAIN ROBBERY, starring Sean Connery and Donald Sutherland. The film revolves around a master criminal's plans to steal a shipment of gold from a moving train.
Before that, in 1903, Thomas Edison's film company had produced a movie directed by one of its employees, Edwin S. Porter, also titled THE GREAT TRAIN ROBBERY. It was the first silent movie that told a story. A classic western, it was about bandits who rob a train and are then killed in a shootout.
The first teaser posters of TEES MAAR KHAN have a train in the backdrop but ask Farah if she was inspired by these two movies and she denies it: "Yes, TEES MAAR KHAN is also about a train robbery but it's more of a comic caper and an original story."
Farah's just wrapped up the film and has immediately swung into action with a well-strategics marketing campaign. "We are planning some games around the movie, may be toys too. The subject is colorful and larger-than-life and could lend itself to a successful franchise," says the film's director, admitting that plans for a sequel are underway.
But there's still time for TEES MAAR KHAN 2. Apparently, Farah's next film is with Salman Khan who puts in a special appearance with Katrina Kaif and Akshay Kumar in the song ' Wallah wallah.' And rumor is, Farah will be launching Katrina's sister, Isabella, opposite him.
"I'm wondering where that rumor came from. Katrina never even mentioned Isabella to me but we had a laugh over the buzz," she chuckles, insisting that she hasn't got cracking on her next project yet. "My husband (Shirish Kunder) will be directing two films, KICK and JOKER. So I'm going to take it easy and spend time with my babies. I need the break. As for Salman, he's been a friend for a long time. And this friendship is without any vested interest."
Incidentally, Salman got Farah to cook a meal for him. "He's been wanting a typical Parsi meal from me for a while now," she says. "So when he was shooting with us, I got some of his favorite dishes cooked and took them to the sets. Akshay, Katrina and he loved the spread."
