It goes without saying that Martin Scorsese has to make a list of the best directors working today. He may be getting older, but his movies are as good as ever. In fact, he recently won the Academy Award for Best Director in 2006 for The Departed.
Where do I even start with Christopher Nolan? It would seem that Christopher Nolan keeps coming out with movies that crack my top 20 favorites of all time. Between The Dark Knight, Memento, The Prestige and Inception, the man keeps blowing away my expectations.
Danny Boyle is another director that I absolutely love. Some of Boyle's best movies include, but are not limited to, Unleashed (aka "Danny The Dog") starring Jet Li, 28 Days Later, Trainspotting, and of course, Slumdog Millionaire. His new movie, 127 Hours, stars James Franco and looks awesome.
David Fincher is another director that I really enjoy. All his movies have his certified trademark. Some of my favorite David Fincher films include, but are not limited to, Se7en, Fight Club and Zodiac. I cannot wait for The Social Network, his next film.
Another fantastic director worthy of mentioning is Quentin Tarantino. Few directors have such a distinct style as Tarantino does. Even in films that he wrote, but did not direct, you can still tell it's a Tarantino movie.
