subject: Some Helpful Advice For Individuals Who Just Finished With A Job Interview [print this page]

You got through your job interview and it has to be a big relief. You think you did well but if you didn't it was still a good learning experience.

There is now the task of waiting for the results and this can be a maddening time as you wonder what the decision will be. Many times we think the interview is the hardest thing we will go through in our job search when in fact it is the waiting period after the interview is over when we begin to wonder whether or not we got the job.

Unless you provided wrong information to the interviewer, do not keep replaying the interview over and over in your mind. If you are looking for mistakes you made in the interview you are bound to find some. It is needless torment.

Do continue your job search or keep busy during the waiting period. If you find that you did indeed give the interviewer the wrong information do a follow up as soon as you discover your mistake and explain to them what happened and give them the correct information especially if it is something they will base their decision on.

Say you have just applied to a driving job and the interviewer wants to know whether you have any speeding tickets in the last three years and you say yes. Later you realize it has been four years instead, you will want to correct that information as soon as possible.

However, if you are quoting sales data and you happen to underestimate the amount of sales made in a given period of time, it will probably be best to just leave the information as is.

Keeping yourself busy after the interview and while you are waiting for a decision is crucial. If you did not get the job you can use this as a learning tool.

If there were questions in the interview that you would have answered differently or provided more detail about, just make sure that you remember this information for your next interview.
