If you're new to the world of shooting, you may be unsure about how to get started. In addition to the gun and cartridges, here's a guide to what else you might need:

DURABLE CLOTHING

Shooting is an outdoor hobby and, as such, is subject to a broad mix of weather conditions. Some days you might be out in the cold and wet, other days it could be warm and dry. If you're unprepared for the elements, then you may find yourself giving up your new activity sooner than you'd think.

Starting from the top, you are going to need a good shooting jacket. Warmth is obviously the primary focus here, but waterproof is also a good idea. As you'll be carry a lot of things, also look for a jacket with plenty of pockets. When the weather is a little warmer, you may be inclined to leave the jacket at home, so get yourself a good shooting vest - again with plenty of pockets - and in both cases, you are going to need to be able to move freely.

Shooting gloves should be next on your list. Not only do they protect you from the cold, but as you are going to be using your hands a lot, they will also be protected.

Likewise, you also need protecting on your lower half. This means getting a good, durable pair of trousers - especially if you are going over different terrain. On your feet, a well-gripped, ankle-supporting pair of waterproof shooting boots will ensure you're ready for anything.

PROTECTION

While your clothes will form a bit part in protecting you from some of the hazards you may encounter, there are one or two other items that are essential.

You are going to need to protect your ears and your eyes. For this, you need good hearing protection. If you are going to be pigeon shooting, things can get very loud, so browse through the top brands in the sector and get a good pair.

For your eyes, a pair of shooting glasses are essential. As well as offering you protection, they'll also help you to see better when doing the actual shooting.

BAGGAGE

To keep your equipment and accessories safe, you are going to need suitable baggage. For instance, an ear muff case could help keep your hearing protection safe when you're not using them.

For the gun and cartridges, consider getting a gun slip and cartridge bags. They will ensure everything is kept safe while on the move.

And finally, to keep everything in one place, you may want to consider a holdall bag to keep all of your accessories together.

Do do have all the shooting accessories you are going to require?
