subject: The Benefits Of Promotional Product Marketing As A School Fundraiser [print this page]

Anyone who is associated with the school Parent Teacher Organizations or even works in a school district realizes that the current economic climate is stealing from our schools. With budgets decreasing so are the resources and fun activities that are available for the kids. This can create a frustrating situation for educators and parents who want their children to have all possible learning opportunities available to them.

Even the best intentioned schools wind up choosing fundraisers that cost a lot of money and with a very small percentage of the proceeds gong directly to the schools. This can leave a lot of resentment in people who are purchasing a $20 can of peanuts that they don't even want to help the school when they find out that really only $3 of that money is going into the school's purse and to the children.

Honestly most people would rather just flat out $20 to the school knowing that they have done something to benefit the local children than to get that big can of less than wonderful peanuts. Really that is how most people feel about fundraisers. They hate the idea of being coerced into buying something in order to help the school kids in the community.

If you are looking to try and raise funds for your local school district it is a much better idea to take donations for school spirit items. These items can be bumper stickers, school spirit items, pom poms, t-shirts, hats, jackets, and umbrellas just to name a few. Now there are several ways to take donations for these items. You can offer these items for a set donation level or you can allow people to purchase them for a set price. Because these items can be ordered relatively inexpensively through a promotional products company in bulk your school or PTO won't have to pay a lot for these items and can sell them for a significant profit, all of which will go to the students at the school for trips, dances, and sports equipment.

Don't allow your school's shrinking budget to steal away the fun of youth. Take it upon yourself as a concerned parent or educator to do something about it and begin raising some of those much needed funds for your school. Most people are willing to give something to the kids all you need to do is ask and offer them a nice item in the school colors. It won't cost you a lot which means more money in the bank to let the kids have more fun.
