subject: Watch Tv On Demand With Wireless Internet [print this page]

As a form of media entertainment, television has come further than just about any in the last 60 years since it arrived in American living rooms. Just ask your parents or grandparents what TV was like when they were young. Depending on how old they are, they likely had one small box in their living room (if they had a television at all it used to be considered a luxury!) that broadcast two or three channels in black and white. If they wanted to watch television in the evening, they likely had the choice between one news program, one local sports program (perhaps the New York Giants playing some Midwestern team), and perhaps a situational comedy! There was no cable; there were no flat screens; heck, there was not even color!

Nowadays, you do not even need to own a television set to watch hours of television every day. This is because wireless Internet and its related technologies have made an actual television set virtually irrelevant, especially for those who do not care about plasma graphics or surround sound or what have you. How is this so? Well, instead of having to rely on what is playing on the channels on your television set, you can simply choose what you want to watch and find it online with nothing more than a wireless Internet connection. This solves the recently developed dilemma of having 500 satellite television channels and still not having anything to watch. Now you will have no excuse you can log onto your computer and choose whatever you could possibly dream of, simply upload the video file, and you are ready. This way your television watching becomes more purposeful, as well. You cannot simply flip on the boob tube and zone out in front of whatever home renovation show is playing on the Home and Garden network or what family reality show is broadcasting on TLC. You actually have to decide on a program and look for it.

If you are unsure of where to actually find the places to download your video, fear not with a wireless Internet connection, the possibilities are endless. For free television, you can go to many of the video services provided by individual cable and network channels that allow you to watch shows for free. These websites are usually restricted by country, however. So you will be fine to use them when you are at home in New York, but do not expect to get on these free, legal sites when you are up in Canada skiing for a week. With wireless Internet, you can also access services like Itunes and Amazon, which allow you to browse television shows and movies and buy them or rent them for a small fee directly to your computer. If you are still not able to find the shows you are looking for, you can always go down the dark path of questionably legal free websites, which post plenty of videos for you to peruse. Just be careful about viruses if you are downloading something directly to your computer, as opposed to streaming it.
