subject: Overeducated But Misemployed [print this page]

Since the beginning of our schooling, we are taught that if we want to be rich and successful, we should go to school and study hard. Some surpassed the expectation of their parents but only a few has really been both happy and successful. We take advanced degrees to be qualified for higher paying jobs but ask yourself if you have maximized your qualifications with your current job right now. Does the job you are in really require the skills and qualifications that you have or someone lesser than you are, educational-wise, is equally suitable for that job?

A lot of people have a high level of education but are not in the job position that they should be. In fact, in some countries, medical doctors take up nursing courses because the salary of a nurse in other countries is higher than their income. That is a perfect example of being an overeducated misemployed professional. It takes almost a decade and a lot of money to be a medical doctor only to end up as a nurse where tuition is way much cheaper and school time is less than half compared to that of a med school.

Proper schooling is great but change your perception that that is the only way to success. The ultimate wisdom for the road to success is never found in schools. A lot of titles after your name could make the impression that you are a successful person but not all people are blinded by that. Do not forget this teaching: There is only one successto be able to spend your life in your own way, and not to give others absurd maddening claims upon it.
