subject: Braylon Edwards DUI [print this page]

Braylon Edwards, New York Jets wide receiver, has been charged of driving while intoxicated Tuesday around 5:15am on the west side of Manhattan. Officers pulled Braylon over, in his SUV which had four other people inside, because of the excessive window tint on his vehicle. Once the officers pulled him over, they noticed the car smelled strongly of alcohol. Edwards was then brought into the police station and given a breath test, which he blew a .16. His blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit.

Needless to say, the New York Jets general manager, Mike Tannenbaum, was not pleased when he released his statement Tuesday.

"We are very disappointed in Braylon's actions this morning. The Player Protect program is in place for our organization to prevent this situation. Braylon is aware of this program and showed poor judgment," Tannenbaum said.

"We are reviewing the information with the league and will impose the appropriate disciplinary measures."

This is an inexcusable act of stupidity, in my opinion. This can be easily avoidable. Braylon Edwards displayed a fine act of irresponsibility and selfishness.

Braylon Edwards had his best game of the season last week. He totaled five catches for 45 yards with one touchdown and one two-point conversion. He was starting to become fantasy relevant, but clearly that is not the case anymore.

The New York Jets have definitely had their share of hard knocks this season as well as offseason. This isn't be anything new to them. They should be used to their players having offseason issues by now.
