subject: "what Not To Wear" Inspires Women [print this page] Most people want to look good, feel good and have confidence in what there are wearing but few people have the ability to make themselves look the way they want. This is where "What Not to Wear" comes in. I love this show with Clint London and Stacy London on TLC; they are feisty, entertaining and very helpful in steering people towards flattering styles, colors and fit. The show is based on a British show with the same name. Other countries have their own versions with Spain's No Te lo Pongas, or Don't Put it On! and Portugal's Esquadrao de Moda, or The Fashion Police, it sounds like a universal problem.
Getting dressed in pioneer day was easy; you had three outfits; a set for work, a set for school and a set for church. Problem solved. Today we have closets full of clothes and we want more for each season, spring clothes, winter clothes, fall colors and summer fare, not to mention holiday and party attire and evening wear, day wear, work clothes, casual, business casual, formal, and black tie. New colors, new styles, new fit, new accessories four times or more a year? No wonder we are all afraid to get dressed in the morning.
Stacy and Clint have great senses of humors; they really try to be positive to their clients, who have been nominated by their friends and families to be on the show because of their poor clothing choices. One of the things I love best is they never say anything derogatory about the participants body shape. They accentuate the good and positive, the curves and ignore or downplay the over sized areas. People always leave feeling good about themselves. They show them styles that flatter their own body types with helpful hints about fabrics, prints, cut and style to update and improve the participants clothing styles. Everyone watching get helpful hints and tips for their own dressing as well.
