Testing is not a hazard but treating with statins is. Statins have side effects such as memory loss, muscle damage, liver dysfunction and more. That's why we check for liver and muscle damage routinely. The danger is that bringing down your cholesterol takes attention away from the real cause of heart disease-low grade inflammation.
It is a conspiracy of false hope. The public wants a way to prevent heart disease but statin medication is not the answer.
The latest evidence that statins are of no benefit is a recent study in the American Heart Journal. This new study tested the cholesterol of heart attack patients admitted to 500 hospitals. The disturbing new findings reveal:
75% of those patients had LDL-cholesterol levels below the current guidelines of the National Cholesterol Education Program (NCEP) of 130 milligrams.
50% had LDL-cholesterol levels below 100 milligrams.
17% had LDL-cholesterol levels below 70 milligrams, which is the new, more stringent guidelines.
And the conclusion bring the levels lower which of course means, increase the statin dosage.
Statin drugs are the only class of drugs approved by the FDA which do not have to demonstrate that they cure or prevent any condition they only have to show that they lower LDL cholesterol to obtain FDA approval. And they lower cholesterol but that's not the answer in preventing and reversing heart disease.
Those physicians and patients who talk about the side effects of the drug have largely been ignored. It was found that in a recent study physicians routinely reject or ignore patient's complaints of side effects from statin drugs, and never report them to the FDA.
Don't let this happen to you. Learn how inflammation causes heart disease and what you can do to bring that under control.
