subject: Mark Sanchez Leads Jets Over Patriots in AFC East Showdown [print this page] Coming into this AFC East showdown, the New York Jets were thought to be much improved from the week before, but no one could have anticipated Mark Sanchez being the player to make the most drastic change as he had a career night against the Jets biggest rival in the Patriots.
With 220 passing yards, three touchdowns and most notably no interceptions, the New York Jets second-year quarterback had arguably his best performance as a pro and really impressed the Jets coaching staff and head coach Rex Ryan by leaving smiles on their faces after Week 2's 28-14 victory over Bill Belichick's squad.
Not only did Mark Sanchez had his best game to date for the New York Jets, but the team as a whole started to come together and looked really impressive on both sides of the football.
It has always been known that the New York Jets were a great defensive team with multiple game changers like cornerbacks Antonio Cromartie and Darrelle Revis, but after Week 2's win over the New England Patriots, the Jets are looking more and more like a well rounded football team that could be Super Bowl bound when it is all said and done.
Next week the New York Jets will have their work cut out for them once again as they will be battling it out with another division rival in the Miami Dolphins for the rights to first place in the AFC East.
Even though many people believe that Mark Sanchez and company will come out on top once again in this matchup, NFL Week 3 odds have given the Miami Dolphins the edge in the majority of online sportsbooks with a -1 point spread in their favor.
Personally, I can't see the Dolphins getting the best of the Jets, especially after the big win over the Patriots, but without wide receiver Braylon Edwards (DUI arrest) and corner Darrelle Revis (hamstring), Miami might be able to come out on top.
