subject: How are you marking Peace Day? [print this page]

This man has gained the support of Kofi Annan and the Dalai Lama he rings people together with his enthusiasm and passion for peace, it is wonderfully contagious! September 21st is now officially recognised by every member state of the United Nations as an annual day of peace Peace Day

All over the world today people are marking Peace Day in their own way. Millions of people doing small things to bring about a massive united change towards global peace one day at a time

In previous years this one day cessation of fighting in war torn countries has enabled incredible and previously unthinkable acts to take place. Like 10,000 medics going into Afghanistan and vaccinating 1.4 million children against Polio. That awesome achievement started with an idea from Roshan Khadivi, Head of External Relations for UNICEF in Afghanistan. It resulted in the Taliban issuing a statement giving their word that no vaccination team would be harmed. What will be achieved today?

Football matches will be played in over 150 countries today in honour of Peace Day, people will take small steps like repairing family feuds and little issues that have rocked someone's boat the wrong way! It's all about you choosing what you will do to make an immediate difference to bring about peace in your world Today!

Today for the first time the Peace One Day concert which took place on Friday night in Paris is being broadcast as a webcast across the internet. This means instead of just 3000 people watching many thousands more will be able to enjoy supporting.
