subject: There are up to a billion bacteria on your watch bracelet [print this page] If you wear your watch regularly it will attract dirt, grime and perspiration all of which will result in a build up ofunsightly black residue. This black residue can harbour up to a billion bacteria.
To get rid of the dirt, grime and bacteria you need to clean your watch bracelet.
Cleaning a watch bracelet is relatively easy provided you follow a few simple steps:
To clean the bracelet you first need to try to remove the bracelet from the watch case, if you can't do this it does not matter it just means you need to be extra careful andkeep water away from the watch case.
Immerse the bracelet in warm soapy water for 30-45 minutes or so taking care to keep water away from the watch case if you have not been able to remove it.
Remove the bracelet from the soapy water and gently with a small softbrush work away at the front and back of the links paying particular attention to the area between the links.
Return the bracelet to the soapy water for 10-15 minutes and then repeat the cleaning process.
When the black residue has been removed take the bracelet out of the water and with some clear water carefully rinse off any remaining soap or dirt.
Dry the bracelet with a clean cloth taking care not to get cloth fibres caught between the links.
Once dry give the bracelet a final gentle rub with a clean cloth and re- attach if necessary to the watch case.
