subject: Benefits Of Digital Scales [print this page]

We all like using gadgets that make our lives easier and simpler. From the moment man invented the wheel, people began to see how inventions and ideas could be put to practical use to save time and energy even when doing the most mundane tasks. Although, not in the same class as reinventing the wheel, digital electronicscales have certainly proven that they have benefits over those old analog scales of the past.

Accuracy

Perhaps the greatest benefit that digital electronicscales have over analog scales is their increased accuracy. While digital scales can be made that can weigh even minute amounts like a single grain of sand with stunning accuracy, most analog scales cannot be made sensitive enough to record such low weights. This makes digital electronic scales the scales of choice in laboratories and other places where even the most minute particle can make a difference. Of course, accuracy just isn't limited to weighing those "specks", digital scales also are more accurate at showing overall weight.

Less Human Error

Digital scales also make for less human error when reading the scales. While analog lines use lines to mark off increments of weights, digital scales always show digits. Therefore if you are reading something that weighs 5 1/3 pounds and the lines on the analog scale measures only in quarters you are probably not going to read that scale with a 100% accuracy, while there is little mistaking reading the number 5.33. The less chances there are for the person that is reading the scale to make a mistake the more accurate your reading will be.

Of course, just how easy that electronic digital scale is going to be read is going to depend a large part upon the size of the LED screen, the back lighting and the size of the numbers themselves. But, new models or digital scales have state of the art screens and back lighting so that shouldn't be much of a problem.

Faster Distribution Of Readings

Digital electronic scales also have the benefit of being able to distribute the information of the scale to various people and locations faster than analog scales. Some electronic digital scales can be hooked up directly to a computer so when an object is weighed it can be read by several people located around the world simultaneously.

Electronic digital scales have become so convenient and easy to read that they are used in almost any industry where knowing the weight of something is important. Post offices, banks, jewelry shops and the food industry all use small digital scales while many manufacturing companies use huge floor models. These scales have proven themselves to be accurate and easy to read and use, making them a convenient choice whenever you need to measure weight.

Electronic digital scales may not have the impact on civilization that the wheel did, but, they have contributed in their own way to making both the work and home life of many people easier and more convenient for that they should be receive due recognition.
