Sprawl set out to make a board short at first. The make was too low cut and would not stay up well plus the shorts came untied easily and they were so heavy they gave the opponent something to hang on to. That was not acceptable.

They wanted nothing for the opponent to grab on to. They also moved the attachment point to the side for comfort in the guard and in the mount.
In the 5th generation fight short Sprawl came up with the 'grip-zones' and also added 4 way stretch. Then in the 6th generation short...blood and sweat resistance!
Comparison
So how do Sprawl shorts compare to other brands? Since they are the original loose fit short and they have stayed on top by continuing to revise the shorts through 5 different upgrades.
There are some other good shorts such as TapouT and Bad Boy. Some have come along and made a similar short. Others have great lines of shorts as well but Sprawl stand head and shoulders above the rest. They are clearly better made and a specialty short. Century shorts would be good practice shorts for a good price. Then you could use Sprawl for competitions. Revgear has entered the market but are rated about like Century.

Not only does Sprawl carry a quality tough short, they also carry a rash guard, shirts, beanies and tees. For sure they have some unique things they bring to the table in their hoodies and performance tees.
