According to the legend around ten thousand women committed Jauhar( mass suicide) in this fort in 1381 AD to protect themselves from being dishonored from the victorious opponent. This fort has witnessed several fierce battles.
The only way to reach the fort is through a flight of stairs starting from the foot of the hill and leading up to the fort. It offers a fabulous view of the Park. The fort houses several wonderful monuments and buildings. There are some temples inside the fort where the devotees still come to take blessings. According to historic records even the great Mughal emperor Akbar lived in this fort in the 16th century.
