subject: Are There Really Weight Loss Programs That Work? [print this page]

No matter what you've been told it is not easy trying to lose weight. Some people struggle for years with trying to find the best way to get down to a healthy.

You have probably heard of the Atkins diet as a weight loss program. It is generally know as the "no carbs, lots of meat" diet. This is not a safe way to lose weight as it is incredibly harmful to the body. You will see major weight loss using this method. And yes, the weight comes of quickly. The weight loss you see with this program is rarely permanent. As soon as you reintroduce carbs into your diet, you can balloon back up. Further: carbs are necessary nutrients for your body. You need carbohydrates for energy. Nutritionally, going cutting out carbohydrates is bad for you, not to mention it can be difficult.

Weight Watchers is, quite possibly, the most popular of all of the weight loss programs. This is a points program that's been around a while now. Instead of counting individual calories food is broken down into points and members of the program are given a certain number of points that they can consume each day. What you eat is, basically, up to you. The support found in this system is no doubt quite encouraging to most who use it. One of the things that makes this program so popular is the amount of dietary freedom it offers compared with others like it.

The NutriSystem weight loss solution is another program you've no doubt heard alot about. This system bases the food on a glycemic index, here they send the food directly to your home. The NurtriSystem weight loss system used to mimic others with meeting centers years ago but today they are only found on tv and the internet. This larges benefit of this system is it is the least expensive so far. If you have difficulty taking off extra pounds and cannot afford the over priced systems you should consider nutrisystem as an option that might just work for you.

These weight loss programs all have different principals. Most weight loss programs are built on the premise of making a quick buck off of people desperate to try anything to lose the weight. You'll want to discuss your program with your doctor especially if you find one that works.

Not all weight loss programs are the same. A portion will help you shed pounds and learn healthy habits. On the other hand there are the programs that are detrimental to your health or don't help you lose weight at all. Before you start any kind of diet or program it is always best to consult your physician. Physically, your doctor is your best source for your history. He or she will be able to help you figure out how to get from where you are right now to where you want to be when you reach your goal weight.
