subject: Choosing A Driving Instructor In Wakefield [print this page]

When searching for a good driving instructor or driving school it is essential that you take your time and do not rush into the decision as this will be an important decision which could cost you a lot of time and effort if choosing wrong.

So where do you start? First try and ask your close friends or family who drive where they learnt and how they fared in the process. Was the instructor polite? Was the instructor punctual? Was the instructor patient? Will you choose a small business or one of the bigger players?

With the larger driving schools you will find that they may be a little more expensive. The reason being is they have larger overheads. Smaller schools normally charge less to take on a pupil but can be quite well booked up already so you may not get the amount of lessons you would like.

Decide which kind of lessons you would like to take, automatic or manual. Automatic transmission is by far a lot easier to learn as you do not have to learn and understand the use of the clutch as this is done for you hence the word automatic.

Manual transmission is decidedly more difficult to learn but once you learn manual you are qualified to drive both manual transmission and automatic transmission. Manual vehicles have three pedals to use a clutch, brake and accelerator to master.

Also make sure that your instructor has all the correct credentials to teach you. By law a driving instructor has to display his badge at all times whilst teaching in the window (normally by the tax disc). The badge should display the instructors name, driving standards agency number, expiry date and start date.

Some pupils search for instructors who offer cheaper lessons than others. Please be careful here as most good instructors will not need to drop prices down to get pupils. If an instructor offers a real low price ask for some good referrals of previous pupils.

The internet is another great way to find a good driving instructor. Search all the major engines, google, Yahoo and MSN. They should all push out similar results when typing in the keywords you are using.

If you do not find what you are looking for experiment with the keywords. You may be looking for driving lessons in Wakefield for instance, if you do not find what your searching for try keywords driving lessons West Yorkshire. Most decent driving schools and driving instructors will have their own websites with a lot of information for you to check through.
