subject: How To Find Used Car Sales [print this page]

It can be quite a task to find a quality used car with all of the dodgy ads and sales tactics employed today. One of the best ways to find a used car is to check in the classifieds in the newspaper. This doesn't avoid the dodgy folk who will try to sell you a defective car, but you can get an idea of how much is available and what the cost might be.

A great place to start looking for used car sales is on Craigslist. You will find individuals selling their cars, vans, and trucks, but you can also find the occasional multi car sale taking place near you. It is at least another way to get an idea of what the market is like and what you can expect to spend.

You could also take the time to visit a nearby repair shop and have a little convo with a mechanic or the owner of the place. They are car folk and as such, usually have a good idea on where to find the best deals for wheels.

While you are there, you should ask them if they know of any car dealers that a trustworthy. You might be surprised at how many reputable dealers there are in your area, the stereotypical used car salesman type probably isn't as bad as people make it out to be. Once you find a reputable car dealer, check to see if they have any used car sales specials coming up in the future or possibly going on right now. Auto dealers seem to always have something going on to entice customers to stop in and buy from them.

If you find a place that specializes in used car sales, make sure they speak in terms you understand. If they start quoting technical details too much, you might be left boggled a bit. Ask them to explain it in layman's terms so you can understand better.

If you are interested in a car, but aren't sure what condition it is in mechanically, ask if you can have a mechanic check it out to ensure that the motor is sound. Then take it to your new found mate, the mechanic at the repair shop and ask him to look it over. He will likely charge you a few quid for it, but that is to be expected and it is well worth the money if you avoid buying a defective car.

Another way to find places that have used car sales is to stop in at an auto component shop and see if they have any information that can help you. Chances are they will know of something going on, though it might involve a bit of travel to get to it. You can always turn the trip into a bit of a holiday if it is near something of interest, and take a mate with you. This way you have someone to help you make a proper decision when choosing a good used car and share some good holiday memories with.
