subject: Avoid a Scarcity Mindset [print this page] Do you live by the expression, "nothing ever comes easy?"
This is true on some level, but perhaps not the way that you imagined.
You see, many of us live in a place of struggle, such that, even when the answer is right in front of us, we cannot see it because we've already decided that everything has to be hard. As a result, we often give up before we get started because we've determined that it is going to be too much work and/or not going to work out.
Does this resonate for you?
If so, what are you not moving forward on because you've already decided that you can't muster up the effort?
Now imagine that it is years from now and you are still in this very same place.....how does it feel? And, what, if anything, are you prepared to do differently so that you can shift your reality?
So, back to "nothing ever comes easy" part. Perhaps it should read "nothing comes without dedication and effort, BUT with this in place it CAN be easy-breezy."
Sound better?
I've learned that there is, indeed, a formula that we need to consider when moving forward with any endeavour. Allow me to share it with you:
Well, without really showing up for what we want, what we want will not show up.
Make sense?
When we don't keep our eye on the prize (dedication), and begin to lose focus, we automatically send a signal out into the universe that is fuzzy, and therefore hard to read.
Dedication is the first step AND the most essential step before all others because without it, there would be nothing to invest in.
Once we're clear on what we wish to invest in (and really mean it), we can then invest in our goal in a way that best serves us. Perhaps we invest time in studying, or invest energy in pursuing, or invest money in creating. Whether we invest time, money and/or energy, we are most certainly moving our vision forward.
Here's the tricky part and one that I really want to focus on for the remainder of this article: cost versus investment.
That is, when you use language like I'm spending all of my time on.....or, it's costing me......or, I have to pay for......you are feeding into scarcity thinking and affirming a scarcity mindset.
When you view your endeavour as something that is costing you, it is highly unlikely that you will create what you want AND it will be really challenging to remain dedicated to your vision when it doesn't seem to move forward no matter what you do.
So, the BIG question is, do you want to create your life from a mindset of "what's it going to cost me?" OR from a place of "how will my investment serve me?"
This shift in mindset needs to occur everywhere in your life (yep, everywhere)! Whether you are taking a course, getting a massage or hiring a coach, you are not *paying* them and it's not *costing* you, but rather YOU are *investing* in you. Period.
Aren't you worth investing in?
You see, without an investment mindset, nothing seems worth it, right?
Now, I recognize that this may be bringing up the issues in your tissues, so please know that I'm really coming from a place of high service. It is my intention to provide you the space to really, really take a look at your language, your mindset and your current reality so that you can begin to consciously make shifts towards what you desire and life your most joyous path.
So, here is my coach's request for you:
1. For the next 72 hours write down every time you catch yourself using language such as cost, spend or pay.
2. Have a heart to heart with yourself (perhaps in your journal) to review your goals and whether you are really dedicated to, and investing in, your vision as much as is needed to propel you forward.
3. Get clear on one action you can take right now towards your goals to support you in moving forward and explore how things will be different when you adopt the energy of investment in all that you do.
