subject: Lose Stomach Fat: The Fundamentals [print this page] Everyone wants to lose stomach fatEveryone wants to lose stomach fat. For guys it's in order to show off their six pack. For girls it's usually just to have a flat stomach. Through my years of working out though I've learned multiple ways to burn the fat off of your body and tone your core to your liking.
The most obvious thing to remember while trying to flatten your stomach is that you need to consume a smaller amount of calories than you are burning through your workouts. This is basic knowledge. An interesting fact though is that the amount of calories you consume is almost irrelevant if you consume the RIGHT calories in combination with working out of course. What are the right calories? Vegetables, proteins, and whole grain carbs will help your body recover from workouts and build muscle without giving your body any options to store fat. Control your diet and you will control your stomach.
The other thing to remember when you are working to lose stomach fat is that the type of exercise you are doing matters. If your looking to lose the fat on your stomach then doing a resistance exercise like crunches are going to have a very limited effect. Instead, do a full body workout that includes cardio. Running, biking, or any sort of cardio exercise is going to do wonders for you're body fat.
For the more experienced person looking to define their stomach look into intense interval training. With this training you'll sprint about 100m or the straight part of a track, walk 100m or the curved part, and then rinse and repeat! If you run at a 6 or 7 you'll burn off the carbs you ate for the day but if you go 100% you'll notice results immediately.
My personal favorite exercise is known as the bicycle crunch. With this exercise you will lay down and keep both of your legs elevated and as straight as possible. Then you lift one knee towards your torso and pull your head and crunch that way as well. Switch legs , and repeat. When doing this exercise you get in resistance training that will tone the muscles in your core and cardio training that will burn the fat off of your stomach in no time. This is by far one of the most efficient and effective core workouts you can do.
