So what exactly is a Life Coach?
So what exactly is a Life Coach?

Coaching has its origins in sport and initially it was focused on instruction until it was realised that to really achieve performance something extra was needed from inside the individual. One of the pioneers of modern coaching was George Galloway who was the author of The Inner Game of Tennis' and said The opponent within one's own head is more formidable than the one on the other side of the net.'

In Life Coaching the only opponent is within yourself and the role of the coach is to help you unlock your own potential to achieve the results that you set for yourself. To achieve this progress you must first understand your own fears and abilities along with your desires and hopes. A Life Coach can guide you toward this understanding and support you in the move toward your goals.

How does it Work?

Coaching in its simplest form is a dialogue between two individuals and is nothing more complicated than that. However, the dialogue is about you and your needs so it is you who should chose the topic. But don't worry if it may seem vague or general as the coaching process itself will make you aware of what you are really seeking.

It may be clear to you that you want to lose weight or get fitter or maybe you just feel demotivated or unsure what the future holds. It may be about your inner self or perhaps it is a relationship issue with specific friends, family or colleagues. Perhaps a decision is needed in your career or personal life but which path to chose and how to make it happen?

Whatever the topic the coach will follow your thoughts and comments and by asking simple questions g the dialogue will develop. This simple and open process will encourage you to look inside deeper and from new and different perspectives until awareness and understanding of the real problem is achieved.

The coach will encourage the development and review of the possible options until a plan of achievable steps emerges. Coaching is about achieving results, so at this point the willingness and motivation to succeed will be tested and explored further until the change process is commenced. The coach will also provide the guidance to understand and establish any needed ongoing support.
