subject: What To Look For In An Eft Practitioner [print this page]

Who hasn't heard of so-called 'positive affirmations' in this day and age of holistic wellness, alternative treatment, and positive thinking. But have you heard of Emotional Freedom Technique? Know how it works?

Well known figures such as Jack Canfield, Dr Norm Shealy, Joe Vitale and Dr Joseph Mercola recommend it.

Why has EFT become so well received the world over? Can it be because it's simple to use? Yes. Is it because it's highly effective with reducing stress, anxiousness, even deep-seated traumas? For sure.

But how does it really work? A few misguided therapists believe that EFT utilises positive affirmations along with a unique tapping technique.

But using positive statements and affirmations actually completely misses the point.

EFT is not carried out as a positive thinking tool. It is much more sincere and down-to-earth than that. Tapping Therapy actually helps you recognise the sincere, current negative emotions, perspectives, views, as well as fears.

A set-up phrase is used, which does include something positive at the end of the declaration, but that is the most elementary and inconsequential part of the process.

What is important is for the individual to focus on. To concentrate on the negativity that they are sheltering. Along time ago in my early education as a self-trained therapist before my EFT certification, I discovered the phrase 'pain is caused by resistance'. EFT makes full use of that concept by helping the person to have and acknowledge the pain they are experiencing.

That is the crucial aspect of EFT. Not the optimistic affirmation.

Then, while using index and middle finger of one of your hands, you'll touch known acupuncture pressure points around the body as you say allowed the words that hold the most emotional significance for you personally in that instant with regards to the problem.

The tapping points for the standard approach are: eyebrow point, side of eye, under eye, under nose, chin, collar bone, under arm, and top of head. These relate to energy meridians as documented by Chinese medicine and now medically demonstrated in the West.

Although it sounds strange on face value, the actual proof is in the pudding. Tapping works. Results are shocking, but real and evident.

Just do not necessarily go with an EFT Practitioner who cookie-cuts positive affirmations and focuses on wanting to 'make you feel better' for that is not the purpose of EFT at all. Your work with the EFT Practitioner must be to investigate how you feel, and let out all of the trapped negative thoughts that keeps you back.
