The first thing is that getting the soft water is economically cheap since there is no need to use lots of water or cleaning equipment. For example you can use soap or washing powder to clean your body or your bathroom walls.

The hard water is also unhygienic for your health, but you are drinking this kind of hard water every day.

If you want to save your other appliances you need to use soft water. Keep in mind that hard water is also damaging for your water heater or coffee maker and reduces their lifetime.

The hard water is also detrimental for your washing machine. When we use the hard water to wash our cloth the color of the cloth becoming faded or dumb is because of the fact that the minerals are bind with the wavered fabrics.

Soft water is also important for washing your colored clothes. If you use hard water for your cloths, after some days you can see that they lost their actual color. So you should use soft water in your washing machine.
