The beautiful Indian Ocean island of Mauritius is about to welcome an old favourite back after more than a year's absence. Mauritius holidays are surprisingly accessible with some resorts offering excellent value for money, given the quality of your surroundings and level of luxury you'll encounter.

Trou Aux Biches, which was demolished early in 2009, has been majestically re-constructed as a new luxury hotel, and is set to open its doors once again from November 2010.

Rebuilt with the environment firmly in mind, the new and improved resorts retains all of the features that made the original hotel so well loved, while bringing a sense of modernity, privacy and serenity to the location.

Set amid an blossoming abundance of flora and fauna in a large tropical park, all villas and pavilions offer a true taste of luxury whether you are travelling as a couple, group or family.

Six restaurants offer a range of tantalising cuisine to tickle your taste buds, with everything from Eastern and Asian to European flavours on offer.

The kids will be entertained courtesy of a Bob Marlin mini-club for those aged up to 12 years old, while for older children the array of water sports and land sports might be more up their street, and an upcoming club for teens offers a more sophisticated range of activities for those a little too old for children's games.

While the youngsters are happy, mum and dad can either take some time out and relax in the sunshine by the pool or beachside, or indulge in a sumptuous massage or treatment at the Spa by Clarins in one of the 20 exquisite thatched roof cabins.

You can step a little further afield from the resort and charter a boat for some deep sea fishing or opt for some diving with the tropical fish.
