What you are looking for is afterburnWhat you are looking for is afterburn. In other words, it's not about the calories that you burn in the gym, but about the calories that you continue to burn many hours after you have left the gym. Jogging on a treadmill whilst watching the news bored for half an hour is not going to provide you with the intensity you need to really rev up your metabolism. You may be yawning on the treadmill, so is your body.

Short bursts of high intensity activity are what you're looking for. If you want to fire up your metabolism think about sprinting for 1 minute, followed by a 1 minute jog, followed by a 1 minute sprint. You see what I mean? This will really get you going. Weight lifting is much more crucial than cardio to promote fat loss. This is what people need to realise. By building muscle you are turning up and turning on your metabolism...You will be burning fat way beyond having left the gym, and it doesn't take very long. An intense 5 minute weight lifting set or an intense 5 minute sprint will have you on your way to that perfect body in a much faster and more effective way. It worked for me.
