subject: What Types of Cars Do Rock Stars Drive? [print this page] The lives of rock stars can seem very glamorous indeed. They've got thousands of fans hanging on their every word and waiting to buy their next record. They appear in vast stadiums, lead exotic lives jetting all over the world and most of them also seem to have endless pots of cash. It's a stylish and extreme life, to be sure.
So it shouldn't come as much of a surprise to learn that they tend to drive some rather nice cars as well. After all if money is no object why shouldn't they splash a bit of it about and treat themselves to a nice drive or two or sometimes even more?
For example Van Halen a rock band led by Eddie Van Halen has used a 1932 Ford Phaeton Hot Rod in the past. The car has recently appeared as part of an exhibition in Indianapolis. The lead singer for the band, David Lee Roth, also drove a 1950 Mercury Custom convertible at one point. As you can see, the cars definitely rank as the more unusual kind.
Sometimes a particular car can be associated with a rock group because it appears in some of their videos. A classic example of this is the hot rod car that ZZ Top made famous in a slew of their videos back in the day.
When it comes to rock bands there can be few heavier than Iron Maiden. The lead guitarist for the band, Adrian Smith, once drove himself around in a very nice Jaguar XJS. Eric Clapton has also opted for the Jaguar XJS in the past, so it clearly has a good reputation among rock stars of all kinds.
The son of Ozzy Osbourne may not be as famous as his dad, but Jack Osbourne knows a good car when he sees it. He has been known to drive an Aston Martin DBS in the past. These certainly don't come cheap, as you can imagine.
Finally Roger Daltrey, famous for his association with the rock group The Who, has also been known to have some expensive but tasteful cars in his garage from time to time. One notable example is the almost too obvious Ferrari a car that has been owned by many other rock stars over time, including Rod Stewart.
As you can see there is no end to the number of rock stars who like to splash their cash on the best cars the world has to offer. What's more they tend to have more than one at a time too. Of course they've got all the usual tasks that come with car ownership too, such as repairing windscreen chips and so on.
But at least they've got stunning cars to drive around in every day.
