subject: Builda - Building Creativity [print this page]

Builda are slim stackable mini planks which are used to create an endless variety of constructions. They are made from precision cut untreated New Zealand timber which is sustainably grown in New Zealand. Each plank is cut to the ratio of 1:3:5:12 which assists in construction.

Playing with Builda develops creativity and intellectual and social skills. How? Intellectually - Building with Builda requires either consciously or unconsciously, the consideration of proportion, leverage, weight and size and the more complex the structure, the more advanced the consideration of these concepts. So, no matter what your child's age and ability, they will still be learning while having fun.

Physically - Building with Builda means children are using the small muscles in their hands and developing their fine motor skills and for young children, it is important to build up these muscles in preparation for writing.

Socially - Playing with Builda provides a perfect opportunity for parents to connect with their kids through play. Also, children playing together with Builda learn the value of cooperation and team work.

At the age of three or so, kids might build simple towers or roads to drive their cars along. The complexity of their structures increase and at about 9 or 10 they may be making multi level marble runs and massive towers or cities and from their, maybe models of famous landmark buildings. The sky is the limit!

Please feel free to have a look at the website: www.mybuilda.com where you can purchase the blocks online. They are available in sets of 50, 100 or 200.
