Heartburn can become a severe problemHeartburn can become a severe problem. Not only unpleasant but dangerous for your health. It is an unpleasant situation to live daily.

If you cannot resist the pain anymore, a trip to your doctor is highly recommended, otherwise, you could try some homemade remedies for heartburn.

To know about natural homemade remedies and how to use them, doesn't mean that you are totally against medical drugs. Looking from the other point of view, not all the natural remedies may work for your body, as well as not all medical drugs have the desired effect.

Like anything else in medicine, natural remedies might also present side-effects. This is why you should always read the labels and warnings very carefully, so you won't find yourself in a worse situation than the one you are already in.

For example, if you are a pregnant woman, and you suffer from heartburns, you should consult the doctor before taking any chances of using natural remedies.

One great remedy is auto-suggestion; but you might wonder how it works. See, your body can heal itself with the help of your brain. Keeping a diary on the period of using homemade remedies for heartburn will help you see the results and think positively. This way, your brain will act and help your organism regenerate faster.

Unfortunately, it is not enough to just think positively to be able to heal yourself from heartburns, or any other disease; you must also try some remedies. So, here it is; a list of prevention methods and natural homemade remedies for heartburn.

1. High Fiber Diet.

It is not about those high fiber diets going in and out of fashion. In fact, what I'm trying to explain is that if what you eat doesn't have enough fibers, you have higher chances to develop heartburns. So, eating fiber rich bread and fruits like apples and berries will keep you away from heartburns.

2. Low carbohydrate diet.

Even though it has not been proven scientifically, some independent research has shown recently that reducing the carbohydrates intake can help you a lot, by minimizing the risk of heartburns.

3. Tobacco

If you don't already know, tobacco is one of the biggest triggers of heartburns, because it causes the stomach acid to increase. What you need to remember is that even by cutting down on how much you smoke, can help reduce the risks of heartburns.

4. Alcohol

As it has been medically proven, alcohol, especially beer and wine are great heartburn triggers. If you can cut down your alcoholic intake you can immediately reduce the risks of heartburn. Anyway, the best thing you can do is to cut it off definitively; it is not as hard as it may seem.

5. Chewing Gum

As weird as it may sound, chewing gum after a meal can either lessen the chances of heartburn or alleviating the symptoms once it has started. This happens because the gum produces saliva, an ingredient that reduces the quantity of acid.

6. Candies

If you don't like chewing gum, you must know that there is an alternative; candies are also producing saliva that can help, reducing the quantity of gastric acid found in your stomach.

Those are the main homemade remedies for heartburn; they might not all work for you, but it worth trying!
