subject: Common Symptoms of Infertility in Male [print this page]

A lot of people feel uncomfortable with the topic of infertility. This is simply because many refuse to accept the fact that not all of us are capable of bearing children and that some people need extra help to achieve a successful conception.

This feeling of discomfort and sometimes awkwardness has driven many people to keep quiet about their own infertility issues. Men feel especially anxious to talk about it because it connotes the idea of being less manly if you are unable to give your partner any children.

Infertility in male is common and it affects 6 percent of the male population between the ages of fifteen to fifty. A lot of men are unaware that they are infertile. If you do not know the symptoms of infertility, then it is likely that you do not know that you are infertile at all.

Here are some of the most common symptoms of infertility in male that every manand even womanshould know about:

If you fail to ejaculate during a sexual intercourse, that is a warning sign of infertility. This condition is called the anajeculation. This manifests in the male's inability to release semen despite stimulation of the penis during sex or masturbation. If you are unable to release your semen during sex, no sperm will be able to get into the female's uterus to fertilize the egg.

A symptom of infertility in male called the erectile dysfunction makes the male unable to get an erection. The old term for this type of condition is called impotence. When this happens, he does not feel the urge to have sex or he cannot keep an erection long enough to finish a sexual intercourse. It can occur to a male at any age in his life but it mostly manifests in older males aging 75 years old and above. The causes of erectile dysfunction are diabetes, hypertension, stress, anxiety, smoking, brain and spinal injuries among others.

Males born with undescended testes also suffer from infertility. If you don't know where your testis is, it's located inside your scrotum and is next to the penis. This condition occurs at birth and is otherwise known as cryptorchidism. Cryptorchidism is when testes are not dropped in your scrotum and stay in the abdomen or partway down into the scrotum. Your testes usually descend on their own three months after birth but in this case, it wasn't able to descend by itself.

There are symptoms of infertility in male that manifest in men with physical irregularities like obesity or being too fat. Excess fat cells can impair hormone levels and as a result, your body will produce extra estrogen that can impair your fertility.

Knowing the symptoms of infertility in male is important so that you will be able to trace the cause. And when you are able to trace the cause, you will also be able to employ methods to correct them with the help of a qualified physician.
