What does sex mean in a relationship? Sex means different things to different people. It's difficult to speak in generalities and say things like all men want sex. The truth is that while a majority of men place great emphasis on sex when they are single, many men do not. Just the same, we cannot say that all women are nurturers and desire commitment before sex, because not all women do.
Instead of broadening the subject, let's get down to specifics. Individual people have very opinionated views on sex and that is the right of each and every individual. There are some men that want sex without commitment, and there is nothing wrong with them for having this view. A woman that does want commitment before intimacy, however, would be wise to stay away from such a man in courtship. Sex changes the dynamics of a relationship. After sex, many women have the tendency to fall for a man. (Especially if he's kind enough to give her an orgasm!)
On the other hand, for many single men, having sex removes the "cloudy vision" that he has been experiencing. Instead of falling in love, the sexually satisfied man starts to think realistically about the relationship. He is, at this point, trying on the point-of-view that the woman had before she had sex! Now the shoe is on the other foot. The man is hesitant to commit, and the woman is feeling needy, angry and confused.
This proverbial situation, while very familiar, is not by any means a rule. While we all have sexual needs we all express these needs very differently. It's not good practice to give out vague and sexist tips for dating women and men, and expect each individual to find wisdom in such generalities. It doesn't always work that way.
It's better to pinpoint the areas that we all need to work out for ourselves, regardless of sex, orientation or situation. A woman must know herself before she is ready to start dating other people. This way, she avoids all of the heartache and mistakes that result from entering into bad relationships.
There is no reason why you can't start dating right away. Women all over the world are dating right now. Some older women are even dating younger men, proving that there is no "type" that is doomed to be single! These women are having fun regardless of their age, their looks or their imperfections. This is a great deal of love in this world and if you are willing to take a chance, you can feel some of that love!
