BODY: Electrical appliances are important to accomplish different household functions, such cooking, heating and cleaning. Electrical powered equipment is needed to be treated properly and handle with care. These devices can create major hazards in you home, especially when mishandled or not maintained.

Many of these electrical devices are high powered and high voltage that may result in to more risk and danger to you and to your family.

There are several ways on how to protect you family from the dangers caused by electrical appliances, such as grounding, insulation and electrical protective devices. With these basic precautionary measures, you can significantly reduce electrical hazards from your electrical appliances:

* Before using any electrical appliance, check for damaged or frayed electrical cords right away.

* Before removing the appliances, if the cord can be detached always unplug form the wall.

* Do not leave electrical appliances on the counter plugged in, such as toasters, coffee makers, blenders, etc. If this devices malfunction it will create fire, especially with clock timer and sensor devices.

* You can use extension cords for temporary operations but always use electrical outlets as much as possible.

* It is advisable to use multi-plug adapters that are equipped with circuit breakers and fuses. Be familiar with the location and how to operate shut-off switches and/or circuit breaker panels.

* Avoid plugging in electrical appliances where in can fall into water. You can be electrocuted if you touch it even it is switch off.

* Always unplug and cool appliances before cleaning.

Electrical fire safety is a serious matter and preventive measures are of extreme important.
