subject: A Vacation For The Avid Camper [print this page]

Camping is one of the all time favorite types of family vacations. Whether you are a couple, a family or all alone, camping is a great way to get away from it all. One of the favorite modes of camping is at the state parks, where you have a nice mix of amenities and yet you can enjoy the grandeur of nature. Every state has lovely state parks to visit.

If you can take a camping vacation during the week in a state park, you will find it less crowded than on the weekends, especially in the summer since these parks are so popular. Try to find the secluded areas if you don't like to be bothered by noisy kids (and adults!). You may want to check out the spacing between campsites before you choose a state park if you don't like to be on top of other campers.

Once you have narrowed your choice down to a few state parks you would consider visiting, you have to check for availability. You then have to get reservations and a pass for the park. All of this can be done on line, where you can also check for the types of amenities that are important to you.

State park passes are a great idea if you like to camp a lot because you can use the facilities to make your camping vacation more enjoyable. Many of the parks offer horseback riding, fire pits, hiking trails, beaches, playgrounds, marinas, boat launches and rentals, convenience shops and clean showers and rest rooms. Some may even have a movie night for the family.

Clean facilities are a must because we all like to take a shower after a day out of doors. If the site has a convenience store, you will be happy because there is always something that is forgotten. If you are not roughing it too much, you can find a state park that offers water and sewage, electric and garbage disposal, although you may have to pay extra.

RV campers are most likely to use these types of services. These kinds of things vary from park to park, so check the internet to see what they offer versus what you need. These amenities are considered privileges, and anyone acting irresponsibly can be evicted from the park, so act responably.

If you are like many Americans, summer is not summer without a camping trip to enjoy nature. If you want to spend time outdoors, relieve stress and feel at peace with the world, camping is just the distraction you need.

"Take only pictures and leave only footprints" is the motto of many outdoor recreation areas, so you should be careful not to destroy any of the vegetation that might be important to the area, and you definitely do not want to leave your garbage laying around these beautiful natural sites. Leave them as pristine as you found them so that you and others can continue to enjoy them.
