subject: Parts Of An Effective Letterhead [print this page]

While creating letterheads is a simple enough job for anyone, creating truly effective letterheads does require some precision in the parts and design. In this tutorial for letterhead printing, we will go over the different parts of effective color letterheads and the design tips that should help you make them truly powerful for your purpose. So read on and try to remember these different important parts.

1.The Name The name or YOUR NAME in particular of course is one of the most important parts of the custom letterhead. To make your name effective in a letterhead, it must be placed at the top left of the letter itself, with a large font size. The font style of your name should always be simple and easy to understand. Do not use any intricate or wild font styles here. Use typical clean fonts that are sans serif style like most headlines. The clear and easier to understand your name is, the better for your custom letterhead.

2.The Position or job The position or job description is another important part of a color letterhead. People of course will want to know the authority of the person who sent the latter they are reading. So it is crucial that this position element is found right beneath or immediately after the main name. Typically, you will want this part look a little bit smaller since it is a small label indicator that supports the name. So make sure you use a smaller font size for its. You might even format it in italics make it visibly different while at the same time not overwhelming the custom letterheads.

3.The Company Name If you are affiliated with a company, of course you will probably want to show that as well with your color letterheads. Depending on the layout of your letterhead, you may want this attached with the position element of the letterhead or it can also have its own line under the name or across on the right side of the color letterhead along with the logo. Again, you will want this name look a little bit larger, with easy to understand font styles.

4.The Company Logo The company logo is an important part of a color letterhead since it adds authority and formality to the whole letter. The position of the company logo may vary depending on your tastes, but the best areas are usually the top left and top center of the letterhead since these are the areas where people look at first.

When inserting the logo into the letterhead design, make sure that you insert an image that is saved in high resolution. High resolution logos are usually cleaner, crisper and look more impressive than lower resolution ones. Make sure that you use a logo that is at 300 dpi or higher to achieve this.

5.The Slogan To add a little public relations value to your letterheads, it is also recommended that you add in your slogan or your companys slogan into your letterhead design. This can be printed in a little bit smaller if you want, typically on the right side of the color letterheads. Of course, this slogan should be short, easy to understand and easy to remember. You can even make a joke or two with it.

6.The background image To make your letterheads all the more impressive, you should consider adding an image background with your print letterheads. You might think this is unimportant, but this actually relates to the overall look of the letterheads. If you use full color letterheads tat have an attractive image, you can really impress your readers and become distinct with other businesses with their letterheads. So make sure you choose a good background image that helps you achieve that.

7.The Advertising content Lastly, you might want to try some advertising content for your letterheads. It never hurts to tell people that you sell something in particular and the ways on how people can buy them for you, even in your letterheads. You can place this advertising message, typically at the right-most side of the letterhead to make it visible but not disruptive of the main letterhead content. You may want to put in some call to action information in this part of the content such as a website order page or a telephone number.

So those are the different parts of a truly effective color letterhead. You might want to have all these parts integrated into your own letterhead printing to make them really competitive and effective in your market. Good Luck!
