subject: Discover Yourself Again [print this page]

All of man's inventions and discoveries are as nothing compared to the intricate, infallible, automatic mechanisms which are you and which you take for granted. You are the most amazing and mystifying combination of complicated, interrelated systems of communications, transportation, transformation, operation, circulation, coordination, elimination and various processing plants ever brought together into one organism.

Within you, visible and invisible to the eye, are literally dozens of automatic independent, self-managing, self-cooperating, self-regenerating units working silently, smoothly, efficiently together to keep you in perfect condition. Each unit is entrusted with certain chores. Each has its specific, separate, distinct, particular tasks, limits, purposes and areas of operation. Yet they are so delicately attuned one to the other, so smoothly dovetailed in their overlapping activities, so perfectly coordinated in their respective fields in an incessant round-the-clock lifetime activity as to defy human duplication.

To continue the evaluation of you, it might interest you to know that there is no one like you in the whole world. As a human being and as a member of the male or female branch of mankind you have your physical and organic counterpart in all the other human beings alive. Although you may differ from them in size, height, weight, build, age, color, race, nationality, background, traits, habits, environment and living standards, basically you are very much like all the other persons on this planet.

However, when we begin to compare, consider and evaluate personality, sensitivity, receptivity, mentality, adaptability, intelligence quotients and potentialities, marked differences appear not only among people within the same general group or classification or among members of one family but even between identical twins. This is where you become a distinct individual, a separate little world all your own.

You have never fully utilized those talents of yours, for various reasons. You may have been too busy growing up, learning a trade, following a profession, raising a family, paying for a home or meeting your obligations, and therefore never gave all your potentialities much of a chance.

But what about now? Can you give ear to those hidden urges and let them find expression now? It is never too late and your present age can hardly be an obstacle.

So-take courage and follow through on the promptings of your heart. They were never meant to be stifled, ignored or forgotten. If you have the urge to sing, to write, to paint, to travel, to make things or to learn something entirely new to you, go ahead and do it-now. Your first attempts may be poor and discouraging but do not let it dismay you. Keep trying again and again for that in itself is an accomplishment.

Nature and God have given you special talents, abilities and aptitudes, which only you can use and develop. Consider your memory. To duplicate even in a minor way its storage capacity it would take several Congressional libraries, floor after floor of filing cabinets and hundreds of trained librarians just to gather, to separate, to index and to classify the millions of images, incidents, impressions, experiences and flashes of identification which you have collected through the years and which you can recall at will in fractions of a second.

You are nature's greatest achievement, the most amazing and most complex form of life on earth. You are man created in the image of God and you can reach the loftiest heights. So-raise your head on high and strive to do better each and every day as you climb onward and upward on your stairway to success and happines
