subject: What do you need on the Road? Dog Travel Products to consider [print this page]

There are some essential dog travel products that every pet owner should carry whenever they decide to take their dog along on a road trip. For your journey, you should first of all invest in a good dog travel bowl; something secure, durable, and spill-resistant. We'll talk more about that later though.

Remember to pack along a dog first aid kit for your road trip, which is a miniature version of your own first aid kit. This may include bandages, tweezers, tape, scissors, antiseptic wipes, hydrogen peroxide and eyewash solution all packed into a cosmetic bag or zip lock bag. Invest in a good car seat cover to prevent your dog's muddy paws and dander from getting onto your car seats. A car seat cover will help you protect your upholstery from dirt, dog hair and spills during your car journey. Moreover, this will provide your dog with their own special place to lie down and rest.

You will also need dog travel products which act as calming aids to enable your pet to relax during your journey. These may include dog biscuits, drops, tablets, gels and sprays that will get your dog to settle down and enjoy the ride. A dog travel crate or dog car harness is necessary to restrain your dog in the backseat while driving. This will help ensure their comfort and safety, in the event that you have to stop abruptly, swerve or crash unexpectedly. Just as in humans, inertia can result in fatalities for unrestrained dogs, so be sure to select a large enough crate to allow your pet to move around while inside.
