The benefit is achieved within 20 minutes of application and shorter length of time. The next step is to have therapeutic exercise after heat application for effective usage. In some patients heat application may increase pain. When that happens, use hot or cold compress, ice bag and moist pack for treatment of back pain and neck pain.
