Over 2 thousand years ago, the Romans were making use of sexual tables, props, chairs and other furniture items. The Greeks, Turkish, Chinese and Egyptians all have had specialized furniture for the adult acts over the eons. The Russians and Arabians are both cultures who are widely known for some of their more creative and outlandish sex furnishings.

The Modern Era

Swing, Slings and Baskets

When you are talking about the most popular items in the sexual furnishings market you are most likely talking about swing, slings and baskets. These items, which may seem to be the same at first are actually three very different things, and are designed for three very different audiences. The Swing is made primarily for male and female intercourse in the most traditional way. The female is placed in the swing, which is a padded seat strap and a padded back strap. Her partner then loops the leg straps which are connected to the top bar behind her knees and performs the act while standing between her thighs. The swing allows a wide variety of techniques, a variation is the "trapeze" style swing which accommodates both partners, or the "basket" which is very popular in Asian and Arabic cultures and is generally suspended over the bed using elasticized "bungee" style ropes. The male lies on the bed, while the female partner sits in the basket which is then spin or bounced.

The Sling however is designed usually for male/male anal intercourse either via traditional penile penetration or hand penetration. These slings are often what is called "full back" and are supported on all four corners of the seat my chains to a full floor sitting frame structure. The design is intended to accommodate the extra size and weight of an average to above average adult male.

Tables and Chairs are not Just For The Dining Room Anymore

Tables and chairs are not in this case items for the dining room. We are referring here to Sex tables, which are very similar to those tables found in a doctor's office exam room. They are usually very strong metal which may have removable pads on them. The tables can be used for a wide variety of things, and become even more versatile if they are of the type which features tilt-able sections and full tilt up and down slanting of the entire surface.
