More and more seniors are catching the "computer bug" and taking the plunge to go online. Active baby boomers have evolved to become active seniors looking to get out and explore the world around them. Computers in general, have opened many doors to entertainment and excitement for seniors. No longer resigned to playing of shuffleboard or canasta with their friends for entertainment. Computers and the Internet allow anyone to play games and communicate with old friends and make new friends, all over the world. Learning to use a computer is one of the biggest challenges for many seniors. Once they learn to use a computer, some cannot believe that they were ever worried learning a new skill.

Some seniors become nervousness when it comes to learning to use a computer and the Internet. They are proud when they learn to use a computer and also manage to send emails without any outside help. While some have had experience with computers in past employment, others are just learning the basics. It is quite an ordeal at first for many people who find it all a bit overwhelming.

Computer use among seniors has proven to be very beneficial to them in many ways. Using a computer is not the same thing as doing exercise for the body, the use of a computer is a very stimulating to exercise their brain. By keeping mentally active, many seniors find that they are not lonely and that they can accomplish with the aid of a computer. Learning to use the Internet will help keep in touch with others who share their interests. Learning to email and communicate with family and friends is very beneficial.

Connecting with new friends and reconnecting with old friends takes the loneliness from some seniors lives. They can also encourage others to learn more as they go through many of the same things together while learning about computers and the Internet. Email and instant chat is great for those with hearing problems. Seniors who are grandparents find the Internet a great way to stay a part of their grandkids lives. Seniors will feel more connected to the family when they learn to use a computer and the internet.
