A person suffering from sinus headache symptoms have their own personal misery to put up with. Sinus headaches can cause a pressure like feeling of pain behind the eyes or other parts of the face. These have been mistaken for a migraine or a tension headache that can feel very similar.

It is often like a throbbing pain when situated in the face or the head. The location on the face of this problem is in the air passages behind the cheeks, eyes and nose when this becomes inflamed. This area is prone to other ailments which can cause mucus build up and inflammation.

If there is a dripping or running nose and a low or medium type of fever with a sore throat this can be one of those ailments. Another is a heavy mucus discharge of green or yellow coming from a cold or another infection or congestion. There is often a feeling of being fairly unwell.

A sinus headache may be felt without these other cold and flu like symptoms. Some of the other symptoms may be a face which is tender and sore when touched, any sudden movement of the head and bending over makes the pain worse. Sometimes when getting up in the morning the pain will feel worse due to the congestion with the mucus which has collected overnight.

It is often found that the problems will begin after a person has had a cold which has been particularly bad or when they first get the cold. This is usually when the headaches start and continue while there is a build up of congestion in the face cavities. This can be aggravated by going into cold air or experiencing sudden changes in the temperature such as going from a warm room to a cold one.

Allergies such as asthma and hay fever may also help to cause problems. Sometimes swimming or diving may increase the congestion especially in someone who is prone to these headaches. Nasal cavities are a great place for viruses, bacteria and fungi to grow especially when they are blocked.

Anything which is found to aggravate the situation whether it is food that is eaten or something in the environment might be well worth keeping away from. A diet which has plenty of fruit and vegetables might be something to look at. When a person is healthy there are often less colds and infections and when looking at this it may be one way to help in minimizing the sinus infection episodes.
