subject: Tummy Tuck - Giving Mom Back Her Body [print this page]

Mommies get the hardest rap sometimesMommies get the hardest rap sometimes. They work, they slave, and they sacrifice themselves for their children, and yet there are areas of their bodies that are under constant scrutiny. What are you to do about it? Well, there is the traditional method of diet and exercise, but that route will only work so much and so far. Sometimes it's just not feasible for those poor stretched-out abdominal muscles to keep you from looking like you've got a pouch there. You can either live with it or you can do something about it. Should you decide to take the bull by the horns and do something about it, a tummy tuck might be just the solution.

What exactly is a tummy tuck anyway? Isn't it just a fancy term for liposuction? No, it's not. This type of procedure removes not only some of the excess fat from your abdomen, it will also remove the excess skin. Liposuction will only remove the excess fat and will do nothing to help strengthen those weakened muscles. There are more options. If you choose to have this procedure, you don't have to have a full one. There are also mini-versions of the procedure that can be performed on those who just have the mommy pouch below the belly button.

What can you expect when you go to see your physician? First she will determine what type of procedure is best for you, the full or mini-tummy tuck. She will decide, of course, if you are physically able to have this type of procedure and will give you your pre-operative instructions. It is important that you follow all instructions she gives you. In some cases you will be required to stop some medications or take some different ones. You might also have to go get blood work or other tests.

When you go in for your tummy tuck, you will be given a general anesthetic. The actual procedure will take about an hour and a half but can take up to two hours, depending on your size and how much is to be done. Your physician will make an incision and then will begin removing excess tissue and fat. Before closing the incision, your doctor will fortify your abdominal muscle,s which will tighten them and give you that flattened look everyone wants. When it comes time to close you up, she'll pull the skin tight and remove the excess.

It is a simple procedure and a great way to get that pre-baby body back. Mothers do so much for their children, and so many of them don't do anything for themselves. This could be something that you consider to help you feel better about yourself and feel as attractive as you've always been - you just might not have realized it.
